Register for Suicides

Register for Suicides is kept on the basis of numbers from the National Board of Health and their register for cause of death.

Register for Suicides covers the period years 1970-2006 and lists all registered suicides in Denmark.

In connection with deaths a death certificate is made out. This information is transferred to the register for cause of death which is kept by the National Board of Health. From here the deaths, that are due to suicides, are drawn.

The register holds about 36.000 suicides stating the applied method and date. Furthermore, it holds information about the person; that is sex, age, marital status and residential district. The register is used as a source for statistics about suicide and for research.

From the pool of statistics one can generate data from the registers and see them as tables. The pool of statistics is not in English, please contact statistician Boerge Jensen, , for statistical information.
